Our team went full zombie mode for this year’s Apocalyptic Zombie Halloween Party! From spooky costumes and Halloween festivities to a trip through the Haunted Trails, it was a frightfully fun time for everyone. Thankfully, we all survived the night… barely!

We are incredibly proud to share that the County of San Diego Administration Center Renovation has received a 2026 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation National Preservation Award from @savingplaces!
Presented Tuesday evening during the National Preservation Summit at Washington National Cathedral in D.C., the CAC was recognized as one of eight recipients of this year’s National Preservation Awards.
For nearly 90 years, the County Administration Center has stood along San Diego Bay as both a civic landmark and the seat of County government. The seven-year renovation modernized major systems for this historic 1938 building for its next generation of service while preserving the architecture, materials, craftsmanship, and WPA-era artwork that have made it part of San Diego’s identity.
We are incredibly proud of the entire project team and grateful to the County of San Diego for its commitment to preserving this landmark for generations to come.

The SILLMAN team traded deadlines and drawing sets for sunshine, laughter, and a little friendly competition at our annual Company Family Picnic. It was a chance to step away from work and bring together coworkers, spouses, partners, and kids for a day of fun, connection, and making memories.
From volleyball, mini golf, cornhole, and soccer to the always intense (and surprisingly strategic) balloon toss competition, there was no shortage of excitement. As competitive as the games were, the best part was spending quality time with the people who make SILLMAN such a special place to work.

Today we`re celebrating SILLMAN Principal Architect Julio Medina`s 12-year anniversary with the firm!
During his time with SILLMAN, Julio has not only provided exceptional leadership and mentorship to our team, but has also led complex, award winning projects, been recognized as AIA San Diego`s Young Architect of the Year, and helped inspire the next generation of architects through guest lecturing at local colleges and serving as a juror for student design presentations.

During a recent visit to the Yountville Skilled Nursing Facility Project, we took a moment to visit the onsite plaque dedicated to our founding principal, Larry Sillman.
Located at the entrance to the facility he helped bring to life, the memorial is a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated so much of his life to serving others both as a veteran and as an architect. Larry was a mentor, leader, and friend whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Thank you, Larry, for your service, leadership, and everything you gave to the profession, our firm, and the veteran community. Your legacy continues to live on and you will never be forgotten.

The award recognizes the project team’s collaborative approach, strong coordination, and commitment to safety during the project. Located on an active Police and Fire Headquarters campus, this renovation modernized the facility to better support the City of Carlsbad’s emergency response operations.
