Brett Tullis has been practicing architecture in San Diego since 1992 and is focused on creating collaborative, dynamic architectural solutions that exceeds the client’s goals of function, sustainability, value and schedule. Brett believes in an integrated team approach to design and construction which embraces the collaborative LEAN concepts to reduce waste and maximize productivity. When he is not manning the helm as a Principal Architect at SILLMAN, he can be found playing guitar and experimenting with craft cocktails.

Having served honorably in the Navy and experiencing a taste of architecture from around the world, Dakotah couples his firsthand experiences with his architectural education to develop designs that are innovative and feasible.

In his free time, you’ll find him continuing his creative journey whether he’s diving into woodworking, tinkering with automobiles, or seizing any opportunity to build. With plans to pursue an engineering degree, Dakotah aims to further his ability to transform his innovative ideas into reality.

Jeff supports the SILLMAN team as a Project Administrative Assistant, drawing on years of experience in administrative and billing roles that shaped his organized and people focused work style. He enjoys the collaborative nature of project work and brings a steady, team-oriented approach to daily operations.

Outside the office, Jeff is an avid international traveler who loves exploring cities and taking in the architectural character of the places he visits. When he is not planning his next trip, he can be found perfecting a very impressive martini.

Jessica is the smiling face that greets you as soon as you enter SILLMAN Offices. More than just a key member of the administrative team, Jessica is part of our company legacy. As Larry Sillman’s daughter she’s watched the company grow and evolve. When not interfacing with clients and consultants, she enjoys spending time with her son Luke. She also runs half marathons and is the resident trivia queen. Her ‘nerd’ knowledge is unparalleled.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys unwinding with her favorite video games and experiment with her newfound hobby of baking macarons.

Julio Medina, AIA, NCARB, is a Licensed Architect and Project Manager whose work extends across a broad scope of project types, including Multi-Family, K-12, Higher Education, Civic, and High-Profile Historic Renovations. He was honored as AIA San Diego’s 2024 Young Architect of the Year, recognizing his leadership and contributions to the architectural profession. During his time at SILLMAN, Julio has championed the firm’s vision for integrated design, leading teams of interdisciplinary experts to realize highly contextual and impactful work. In addition, Julio is also working with 4th year students at his Alma Mater.

Katy Hamilton

Katy’s path to architecture was shaped by a love of hands-on creativity and a drive to design spaces that improve everyday life. Her affinity for design led her to earn her architecture degree from UT Austin and become a licensed architect in California.

With extensive experience working on a wide range of building types, Katy’s passion lies in sustainability, having shared this focus through teaching environmental building systems at Woodbury University and previously serving on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Green Building Council.

Katy is dedicated to creating public spaces that are both functional and uplifting for their communities. In her spare time, she enjoys solving jigsaw puzzles, cooking and baking, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family and two cats.

He was the experienced and steady hand providing guidance and wisdom, a man whose unwavering belief in others fueled their success, and whose vibrant spirit and heartfelt smile had an infectious way of illuminating each moment, turning everyday interactions into treasured memories.

When we think of Larry, we recall not only his exceptional knowledge and architectural insight, but also his immense compassion, zest for life, and unwavering dedication to his community. The SILLMAN firm carries on his legacy, committed to creating purposeful architecture and making a positive impact on the community, all while embracing a joyful spirit.

Liz Scoles

As an integral member to the office staff, Liz helps keep SILLMAN running in tip top shape. With years of business experience she brings a welcomed amount of knowledge and warmth to the team. In her free time she's an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys early morning trail walks with her dogs, horseback riding and water sports. More than anything though, Liz loves spending time with her two teenage daughters.

Marc fell in love with architecture while taking an introductory drafting class his freshman year of high school. By his senior year, he was developing high school course curriculum for advanced architectural drafting and entering in local design competitions. So, it’s no surprise his passion and expertise lie in bettering the K-12 environment through intentional and sustainable design. With an extensive background in managing architectural projects of every type, his knowledge of DSA procedure makes Marc a valuable asset to any education project. When not providing mentorship to our team, Marc enjoys family time, golf, skiing, cooking, and giving back to the community through his many volunteer efforts.

Mark Baker

With over 40 years in the architecture field, Mark has worked on a broad range of projects and enjoys the challenges and rewards that each one of them bring. He and his wife Janice have lived in Rancho Bernardo for 38 years where they’ve raised 3 kids who are now grown and out on their own. His other interests include golf, exercise, woodworking, painting, gardening and being very active in his synagogue. Mark always brings a positive attitude to the work environment, even on Monday mornings!

Nick's passion for the built environment was sparked early on, growing up under the guidance of his father, a general contractor and trained architectural designer. After being raised on jobsites, Nick went on to formalize his education earning both a B.S. and Master of Architecture Degree from USC.

As a licensed architect and certified interior designer, Nick has developed a robust portfolio in hospitality, retail, restaurant, and religious campus design work. His attention to detail and collaborative approach ensures every project exceeds client goals with thoughtful design and constructable solutions.

Outside of work, Nick enjoys motorsports, having competed in desert off-road racing, and is a passionate F1 fan. He also loves ice hockey and, above all, feels blessed to live life with his wife, daughter and their labradoodle Darcy. Fight On!

Paul has been behind the scenes at SILLMAN, since 2001. When not keeping all things computer related operating, he can be found pushing his mouse around a Revit or AutoCAD screen. He is better known in the office as “Hey Paul”, with the many questions directed his way from various locations throughout the office.

Originally from Boston, Roy’s interest in architecture began at a young age, building with Legos and imagining how the city’s old warehouses and factories could be converted into amazing living spaces for him and his family. That early fascination with design and how people experience space stayed with him and eventually led him to pursue architecture after a successful career in marketing. He is driven to help people and do the right thing. His multidisciplinary background gives him a unique lens that blends creativity, precision, and a strong sense of how good design can shape community and build relationships.

Outside of work, he proudly represents both coasts as a lifelong Boston sports fan who now calls San Diego home. Roy has many passions and hobbies, but you can usually find him outdoors enjoying the sunshine, traveling, enjoying great food and a well-made cocktail. He’s always looking to learn from new experiences and the people he meets along the way.

He strives to be an invaluable resource of information and experience for everyone he works with. During his off time, you’ll find him RV camping, hiking, and enjoying time with friends and family.
