Conceptual design for the planned Mosquito and Vector Control District Campus Redevelopment project in Garden Grove, California. It introduces a new two-story Administration and Laboratory building, renovates and expands the Operations & Maintenance facility, improves circulation, and increases parking capacity to 290+ stalls- creating a campus that is efficient, legible, and adaptable. We believe architecture should reflect identity – not just function. The conceptual design derives from the mosquito’s body structure and movement, to echo the District’s mission of protection, control, and education. The new Administration and Laboratory building complements the renovated Operations & Maintenance facility through a shared gabled form, creating a cohesive campus presence. Design elements such as a glass entry inspired by mosquito wings, exposed timber framing, and integrated District branding reinforce a distinct sense of place. A shared covered courtyard between buildings creates space for connection, rest, and renewal -supporting staff wellness and community.
